ICE Health Systems Release Summary 43.0

We are pleased to announce the release of ICE 43.0.

We are grateful to the members of the Collaboration for Health IT as well as the many private clinicians and staff who have and continue to lead this project with ICE Health Systems. Our goal is to serve the world of healthcare with excellence through a system that is built for the needs of today and tomorrow. This release is the next step in achieving our collective goal.

New Features

  • Data Import/Export

  • Treatment Planning
    • Consent document templates can now be configured to use a question type “Consent Table” that will populate and display a predefined grid for any selected treatments during the creation of a Treatment or Informed Consent document on a patient’s record.
      • As defined in the document template, the question type Consent Table can be added “With Patient/Insurance Estimates” or “Without Patient/Insurance Estimates”.
        • Note that Full Fees are always included in the table.
      • The treatments will be grouped by Phase in separate tables.  Below the table for each Phase, the “Estimated Fee for this Phase” will be displayed.
        • Note that the “Estimated Total Fee” will always be included below the last table.
      • Fields displayed as part of the Consent Table include:  Procedure Code, Procedure Description, Surface, Area, Provider, Clinic, Full Fee (optional: Patient Estimate, Insurance Estimate)


  • Data Import/Export
    • Provider Roles are now explicitly imported before appointments.
    • Allow Fee Schedule Import to be created and committed in the past.
  • Footer/Status Bar
    • Users now have the option to display the ICE Footer/Status Bar in one of two locations, as defined from Provider – Profile – Account – Customization:
      • “Yes” to Show Status Bar: At the bottom (as it is currently) displaying: Build Version, Full Screen, New Tab, Screenshot, Feedback, ICE Help, Username – which can be double-clicked to access Build Version & other information)
      • “No” to Show Status Bar: The information will be available as icons with hover text at the top in the Menu bar to the right of Logout. Note Build Version is not listed directly, but is accessible if you double-click on the Username.
  • Local Service
    • The ICE Local Service (which is used for Patient File Scanning) will no longer force a user to re-authenticate if the user is still logged into ICE.
  • Treatment Planning
    • When entering a treatment, the requirements will appear after a CDT code has been selected (e.g. requiring informed consent, etc).
    • Treatments that require validation now have a red exclamation mark (with hover text “Validation Required”).
    • Clicking on the consent icon will show a white popover with links to the consents and date/time of submission. Selecting the link will open the consent document in a popup. Only the latest treatment consent and informed consent are shown.
      • The consent icon hovers have been consolidated into the white popover (e.g. a treatment may show “Treatment Consent Obtained ..” as a link to the document and a second line may indicate “Informed Consent Required”).


  • Data Import/Export
    • Added field “Use Electronic Predeterminations” to Dental Payer Address.
    • Allow a code to exist uniquely in more than one code set.
    • Fixed an error preventing export when there were multiple identical custom field options.
    • Fixed export of Individual Status Types.
    • Fixed permitted values for Collaborations.
    • Policy coverages are now defaulted to zero if not present in the Policy Import.
    • Updated required diagnostic findings & consent values to be the same as a mapped code when a mapped code exists for a custom code.
  • Documents
    • Fixed an issue where a document could not be submitted (error was that not all required questions had been answered). The issue is related to “Select Any” questions where a choice (that is not selected) has a required subquestion.
  • Financials
    • Fixed an issue when making a change to “Payment Made By”.
  • Orthodontic Charting
    • Fixed an issue with display of site when entering Intra/Interarch and Fixed Appliance data.
  • Patient Management
    • Fixed issue during patient creation where date of birth was not being used to update the possible duplicates list.
  • Practice Settings
    • Fixed issue where a user was unable to add new Treatment planning phase without saving the first one.
  • Search
    • Fixed issue when searching on “inactive” individual, those results would remain in advanced search despite changing search criteria.
    • Fixed issue where appointment results were not appearing in advanced search.
  • Treatment Planning
    • Fixed an issue related to declined treatments.
    • Fixed an issue related to deleted treatments.
